Victory for Alastair Seeley during double podium weekend at Brands Hatch

Alastair Seeley took victory and a third place during the Pirelli National Superstock 1000cc double header at Brands Hatch for SYNETIQ BMW on the GP circuit during round six.

Seeley’s victory, his first of the season on the TAS Racing prepared M1000RR, came during Saturday’s encounter in wet conditions. The Ulsterman backed this up with a strong third place during Sunday’s second race for the class at the Kent venue elevating him to fourth in the Championship standings.

Danny Buchan returned to action after passing a medical following his concussion at Snetterton which was great to see. The affable Essex ace showed glimpses of his best form but luck certainly wasn’t on his side once again, with a best finish of twelfth place in race three.

Alastair Seeley: “The goal this weekend was two podiums and that’s what we’ve achieved, but it was great to give the SYNETIQ BMW team the win in race one. We came into this round in sixth position in the series; we’re now fourth after those podiums and moving into the second half of the season with confidence. The conditions were very different for both races but the podiums show the strength of the package no matter what conditions are thrown at us, and also proves that I’m really enjoying riding the M1000RR. Thanks to the team for a great weekend and we now look forward to Thruxton in a few weeks’ time.”

Danny Buchan: “The weekend showed some promise early on during free practice and qualifying but didn’t pan out the way we wanted. Lady Luck certainly isn’t on my side at the minute and making it difficult to find the confidence I need to show what I’m truly capable of, but we will continue to put the effort in and hopefully turn this around in the second half of the season.”

Philip Neill – Team Principal: “As Danny has said already, he’s not catching a break at the minute, but he has the ability to turn this around and we will do all we can to support him. Alastair has won before for us at Brands in difficult conditions, so I had every faith in him repeating that this weekend and to also show the strength of the package, and his ability, in a dry second outing sets him and the team up well for the rest of the season on the TAS Racing prepared SYNETIQ BMW M1000RR.”
