Tom Booth-Amos re-signs for PTR Triumph and finishes 10th in the World Supersport Championship

Tom Booth-Amos re-signs for PTR Triumph for 2025

Triumph Racing and PTR Factory Triumph Racing are happy to announce that Tom Booth-Amos will continue with the team for another season in World Supersport.

Booth-Amos joined the team for the 2024 season onboard the Triumph Street Triple 765 RS after winning the World Supersport Challenge and finishing second in the British Supersport series in 2023.

The 28 year-old has continually improved throughout the year, achieving his best World Supersport results since joining the team including a number of top fives and his first World Supersport podium at Cremona in September.

Triumph Racing and PTR Factory Triumph Racing are happy with the British rider’s progression and look forward to more in 2025.

Tom Booth-Amos, PTR Triumph Factory Racing: “I am really excited to be with PTR Triumph for next year and I want to say thank you to Simon and Triumph for giving me another opportunity. It was a tough start to the year but in the second half we proved where we should be. Next year we need to improve on this and be fighting for podiums at every round.”

Simon Buckmaster, PTR Triumph Factory Racing Team Manager: “It’s great news that Tom Booth-Amos is re-signing for another year. We had a bit of an adjustment period to transition from an in-line four to the Triumph Street Triple RS but in the second half of the season we were really showing the potential and working well together. We are looking to challenge for the top five in the championship and aim for podiums in every round. That has to be our goal although we know that will be difficult in such a strong championship. I want to say a big thank you to Triumph Racing for having faith in us and Tom to continue together in 2025.”

Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer, Triumph Motorcycles: “Tom has shown his talent and potential this year, his first year riding the Street Triple 765. We are delighted to be working with him again for the 2025 season and are looking forward to seeing him fighting at the front next year.”

Top six finish for Tom Booth-Amos and P17 for Ondrej Vostatek

Newly re-contracted Tom Booth-Amos finished race one of the 2024 FIM Supersport World Championship at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto in sixth position today despite having to take a long lap penalty for an infraction last time out at Estoril.

The 28-year-old got a blistering start from the third row of the grid and was up to third by the second lap of the 17-lap race when he elected to take the long-lap which then dropped him down to seventh.  After an initial battle with fellow Triumph rider John McPhee, Booth-Amos rode a lonely race to take sixth at the flag.

Tom Booth-Amos: “Overall I’m very happy with my race. It would have been nice not to have had the long lap because I felt like I could have gone with the two front guys today.  I just lost a little bit of rhythm after I made the long lap and I thought, we had a rough weekend last week so I just want bring it home. We’ll look at the data tonight to see if we can improve because I struggled a little bit in the last part of the race.  We’ll try again tomorrow.”

Teammate Ondrej Vostatek had a lot of ground to make up from his qualifying position of twenty-fourth but a bad start dropped him down to twenty-ninth.  The Czech rider fought back to finish the race P17.

Ondrej Vostatek: “The race was not bad even though we didn’t reach our target.  I struggled on exits from fast corners where the bike was running wide and I had problems with grip too.  My pace was good enough for around 10th-12th place so if we qualified better we would be more in front.”

PTR Triumph Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “To be fair, a great ride by Tom. He’s a bit sore after last week’s crashes. A great start, he was there in the top three, ok we had to do the long lap penalty but he stuck with it.  A great top six finish, he is still on the third row of the grid for tomorrow because he set one of the nine fastest laps in the race so we are just going to look at things we can do to make things better we always do that. I’m proud of him and proud of the team.  Ondrej made a bad start and then he came forward but if he had been consistent with the lap times he would have scored points. He should have scored points. It’s the same thing we work on with Tom, it’s all about the focus and the concentration in what is such a tough championship, you can be fifteenth and still ride good. We will discuss it with him for tomorrow and we hope he can finish the season with a points scoring finish.”

Tom Booth-Amos secures 10th in the championship from the back of the grid

PTR Triumph’s Tom Booth-Amos’ run of misfortune continued today when a minor technical issue on leaving the box meant he had to start the second FIM Supersport World Championship race two at Jerez from the back of the grid.

The quick release fuel line became disconnected when Booth-Amos mounted the bike and he was quickly back to the pit-box where the team got him moving again.  Within the rules this meant the British rider had to start the final race of the year from the back of the thirty strong grid.  Once, again TBA defied the odds with a remarkable position progression over the 17-laps to cross the line in eleventh place and elevated himself to finish the year, tenth in the overall world championship.

Tom Booth-Amos: “Unfortunately we had a bit of an issue before the start so I had to start at the back of the grid. After this the mind set changed a bit to just secure tenth in the championship so I pushed my way through to eleventh and thought I would just stay safe here. Thanks to the guys for everything and also for working hard to get the bike back out and now we need to look forward and focus on a stronger next year.”

On the other side of the garage, outgoing teammate Ondrej Vostatek once again started down in P24 but got a much better start to the season closing race, holding his position and eventually crossing the line again in P17.

Ondrej Vostatek: “The final race is over.  I would like to thank the team and Triumph for this year, it was a great experience and I wish them good results next year.”

PTR Triumph Team Manager Simon Buckmaster: “We had a problem with the fuel quick release, it’s just one of those things.  Big shame we had to start from the back of the grid because we really felt that we had podium potential which was clear to see from race one. It was a fantastic ride from Tom and also to finish tenth in the championship. We have said before we had a difficult start to the season but everyone worked well together and Tom built and improved so I want to say congratulations to the whole team, to both sides of the garage for a great job and a superb team atmosphere. A big thanks to Triumph Racing and to Devis and Bitubo as always.  Just outside the points again in P17 today for Ondrej Vostatek. He is capable of more than that and the bike is clearly capable of more than that.  He had some good rides but it’s a shame he didn’t score more points than he did. He is young enough to learn from that experience and I want to thank him for his efforts this year.  We are really looking forward to next year with Tom Booth-Amos and we will announce our second rider soon.”

The 2025 FIM Supersport World Championship kicks off in Philip Island, Australia on the 21st-23rd February.
