We had the pleasure of meeting the popular and beautiful new 2023 Triumph Street Triple 765 last week at Youles Motorcycles Manchester.
Kerry, our designer, set off Monday afternoon with her kit, rather excited as the Street Triple is her favourite bike. When she arrived, Rob and his team had already set the bike up ready to go.
First up is a walk around the motorbike, plotting how best to section the pieces for the Paint Protection Film Kit so it covers the panel, but is easy for anybody to fit. We design our Paint Protection Kits by hand, so we can accurately re-engineer the curved panels into a flat shape, so out comes the trace film and pens.
Once all the panels have been drawn up, including the tank for our new Tank Paint Protection Kits, it’s time to work on the Tank Grip.
Kerry sits on the Triumph to see where her knee naturally sits on the tank when in the riding position. The trace is marked at the knee and where the thigh sits. At this point, Kerry didn’t want to get off and would have had to be sold with the bike! The Tank Grip has to look good too, so we take a step back and follow the lines of the tank to join up the marks for the leg.
Once happy with the tracings, they are safely stored in Kerry’s folder for transporting back to the office.
Once back at Eazi-Grip, Kerry scans in her tracings and creates the digital drawings. These are then grouped and a test kit is cut from our Paint Protection Film (PPF), including the Tank Grip so she can double check the shape on the Street Triple.
Next it’s a return trip to Triumph to test the Paint Protection Kit and Tank Grip for fit. If any of the pieces don’t fit just right, or are quite difficult to fit, they are amended at this point. In this case, Kerry decided to split a fairing piece to make it easier to fit, and trimmed a couple of the Tank Kit pieces as they had a slight overlap.
The amended tracings are then redrawn and cut at Eazi-Grip with our PPF, ready to return to Triumph again to make sure they now fit.
On Thursday, Kerry set off back to check the amended pieces on the Street Triple.
Happy with the final fit, Kerry thanked the Triumph team, even though they didn’t let her take the bike, and headed back to the office.
The final stages include nesting the Paint Protection Kit, creating the file for the tool maker for the Tank Grip, producing the graphics and fitting instructions, and listing the products for sale and promoting them on social media.
