Lee Jackson narrowly missed out on the 2021 Bennetts British Superbike Championship Showdown, but the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider was able to celebrate lifting the Riders’ Cup at the season finale as he looks ahead to their 2022 campaign.
Jackson scored a podium finish at the penultimate round of the season at Donington Park, despite coming close on several other occasions, giving him a three point edge over Bradley Ray. Now the Lincolnshire based contender is gearing up to battle for the Showdown in 2022 after signing a new deal with the team just before this year’s season finale.
Jackson said: “We finished the season strongly by taking the Riders’ Cup, and having missed the Showdown that was something I was really focused on achieving – not just for me, but also for everyone involved in the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki team for all their hard work.
“I feel that we had a good year and we worked hard to get strong results, but we just missed out on the Showdown. After missing that, the Riders’ Cup was the goal, but it was nice to stand on the podium at the end of the year.
“There is no doubt about it, that next year my aim is to be in the Showdown. I will be working to do everything I can to make that happen. It will be my second year on the new bike and I know we have learnt a lot and have been fast at all of the tracks. We will have some upgrades so we can hit the ground running next year.
“I had a run this year of top tens and then we had some bad luck, but with a winter of work we can fight for more podiums next year and I am looking forward to it, so thanks to FS-3 Racing Kawasaki and everyone involved.”
