Honda Racing UK and Tommy Bridewell round out a challenging weekend of racing at round twelve of the FIM Superbike World Championship at Jerez having made positive progress throughout the weekend and gained valuable information.
Following a titanic battle for the Bennetts British Superbike championship just one week ago, Honda Racing UK and Tommy Bridewell headed to the world stage once more to compete on his Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Participation in the event enabled the team to continue learning with a different electronics package to BSB and to gather data to provide to the wider Honda racing network.
Consistently making progress throughout the weekend on every pit exit, the highlight of the weekend for the team was a solid 20th-place finish in the Superpole race, with Tommy finishing just one second behind HRC test rider Tetsuta Nagashima. In both of the longer twenty-lap races though Tommy crashed out of the race early on.
The Honda Racing UK team now remains in Jerez to participate in a two-day test, commencing Tuesday 22nd October.
Tommy Bridewell:
“It’s been a bit of a frustrating weekend for sure, but I’ve kept my head down and just kept working with the team to get through our program. I’m happy with the progress that we made over the weekend but in truth I’m disappointed with the weekend and not finishing all three races. But look, we’ve learnt some new things as a team and improved the package a little bit more. The hard work isn’t over yet as we’ve got another couple of days testing this week.”
