The test that Can Oncu completed at the Cremona Circuit on Friday 1 September was undoubtedly positive. The Turkish rider was back on his ZX-6R for the first time since sustaining injury through the first turn of the second WorldSSP race at Assen on 23 April.
Can made 82 laps of the Italian track, for a total of more than 300 km, immediately finding feeling with the Ninja. Supported by the Kawasaki Puccetti Racing technical staff, Oncu did not hold back, keen to put not only his injured arm but his general health to the test, after what has been a long and challenging period of recovery.
Feedback was positive, which means that the young Turk will attend Magny Cours, ready to resume racing in WorldSSP and, with the support of the Clinica Mobile, get back to full fitness.
Manuel Puccetti: “We’re really pleased with how the test went. After more than 130 days away, our rider was able to get back on his bike and complete 82 laps. A result that sees us breathe a sigh of relief, and one that is down to Can’s sheer determination, as well as the important work of Dr. Alessio Pedrazzini who, together with Dr. Monica Lazzarotti and the Clinica Mobile medical team, has monitored Oncu’s recovery and remained in constant contact with the doctors who were looking after him day to day in Turkey. Together with them and Kenan Sofuoglu, we’ve decided to bring Oncu to Magny Cours, to allow him to resume racing and take part in the final four WorldSSP rounds. The aim is to make the most of the practices and races from now until the end of the season, so that he can be back to full fitness with a view to 2024.”
