The OMG GRILLA Yamaha Team is focused on extending their winning streak this Bank Holiday weekend, as the 2024 Bennetts British Superbike Championship continues at Cadwell Park for Round 8 of the season.
Having won six races in a row, the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Team are excited to summit the Mountain in a quest to continue their winning streak this weekend as the series returns to a favourable track for the Cannock-based outfit.
Having secured two podiums at the Lincolnshire venue in 2023, Kyle Ryde is determined to continue his run of strong point finishes, which has seen him take four podiums in the last six races, including a victory in a breath-taking opening race at Thruxton last time out. Sitting second in the 2024 BSB standings, Cadwell Park presents Ryde with another opportunity to reduce the gap to the top as he trails Tommy Bridewell by just 25 points.
Team-mate Ryan Vickers is heading into the Cadwell Park weekend brimmed with confidence, having taken his seventh win of the season at Thruxton. The Norfolk-based rider has been on fine form in recent rounds and is keen to keep that trend going at one of his favourite tracks. Having reduced the gap to 50 points, Vickers is hoping his Motocross Skills will come into effect in a bid to become King of the Mountain this Bank Holiday August. The Thetford rider has pace around the 2.2-mile venue, having claimed Pole Position and a Race 1 podium there in 2023. Sadly, his weekend ended abruptly after a crash from the lead left the #7 rider injured and unable to conclude the weekend. However, the 25-year-old is hoping for brighter luck this season and fight at the front across the weekend’s three races.
Aside from the undulating Mountain Circuit, the Superbike riders will face the challenge of the OMOLOGATO Superpole session for the third time this year, with the one-lap dash setting the grid for Sunday’s opening race.
Held over the traditional Bank Holiday August weekend, the event will start with a Friday evening test session (no public admission) before the action starts properly on Saturday. Superpole and the opening 18-lap race will take place on Sunday before the Party in the Park concludes with the sprint race and second full-length race on Bank Holiday Monday.
Kyle Ryde
Championship: 2nd (223 points)
“Cadwell Park is always a special weekend for the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. Fans flood the banks and there is a bit of a party atmosphere across the Bank Holiday weekend. With that said, for us, it’s just another round with the same objectives where we need to take the maximum that we can. Thruxton was another positive weekend, taking my first podium there, which was the Race 1 win, and showed good pace on Sunday, so that’s another step to build from this weekend. Last year was a strong round for me, two seconds and a fourth, but we were close to the win. We have a bit of track time before Cadwell Park, so that gives us the chance to try a few things ahead of the weekend. We’re in a good place, so hopefully that will shine through again.”
Ryan Vickers
Championship: 5th (198 points)
“I’m really excited for Cadwell Park as it’s one of my favourite rounds on the calendar. Coming from a Motocross background, being able to jump the Mountain on a Superbike every lap is something really cool! Hopefully, we can have better luck than last year. We were extremely strong there, pole position and a podium, but crashed out the lead and injured myself in Race 2. The bike is better this year, I’m feeling good and there’s no reason why we can’t fight at the front and be King of the Mountain.”

“After the recent form, we’re very excited to keep the momentum going this weekend at Cadwell Park. It’s been a strong track for us in the past with Kyle’s two podiums in 2023. Ryan was fast there last year, he took pole position and a podium in Race 1, but a crash in the second race left him unfit for the third race, so he’ll be looking to turn that around and make a strong Cadwell Park round. We’re in a good place as a team at the moment, six wins on the bounce and leading the Team Championship and Yamaha lead the Manufacturer’s standings, so the aim is to keep extending the gap there and continue to reduce the gap in the riders standings before the points increase at Oulton Park.”
Paul Curran
OMG GRILLA Yamaha, Team Principal
“We’re coming into the Cadwell Park weekend on top form and hope to keep that going this weekend. It’s always a great weekend for the Championship with thousands of fans coming along to watch, so hopefully we can put on a good show. Six wins on the bounce is impressive but, of course, we’re looking for more. Cadwell Park has been a strong track for our riders and both stood on the podium there last year, and the R1 has been strong there too; so if we can keep the momentum going then there’s no reason why we can’t be at the front this weekend.”
