The Bennetts British Superbike Championship went to Cadwell Park, Lincolnshire this weekend. The INCompetition Sencat team did not get the results they had hoped for, but it did see Lewis Rollo become the 2024 BSB Pathway Champion.

The weather conditions were mixed over the weekend at Cadwell and in the wet on Saturday Lewis looked really strong and had two solid practice sessions. Sunday FP3 was the first dry track time, and the team were working hard with Lewis to try and find a set-up suitable for the technical track. He managed to qualify in 21st place on the grid and was eager to secure the Championship this weekend.
He took the win in the Pathway class in the opening race on Sunday but was pushed hard by his main rival Alex Olsen. He moved up the 18th on the grid for race two on Monday and again did enough to secure another Pathway win and the 2024 Pathway title. He was 18th again on the grid for the final race of the weekend and had some strong consistent lap times, he finished second in the Pathway class which broke his run of 19 wins on the trot.
Lewis – “It was a tough weekend especially with the weather on Saturday. I was trying hard to get into Q2 but that didn’t happen. I managed to do my quickest time in qualifying though which I was pleased about.
We got a good start in the opening race, but we had a few little issues which preventing me pushing forward but still managed to secure the Pathway win. We made some good changes overnight and I felt a lot more comfortable for the two races on Monday.
In the Sprint race got a good start, I went quicker again, I managed to win the Pathway class and sealed the Championship for myself and the INCompetition Sencat Aprilia team.
In the final race I went the fastest I’ve ever been around Cadwell Park and I was really happy despite finishing second in the Pathway class. By the end of the weekend, we got a really good feeling with the bike and thank you to all the team for working so hard and allowing us to achieve the Pathway Championship win with three races to go! Plus, every single sponsor that has been by our side.”

Josh Owens struggled throughout the weekend to find a set-up that suited him around Cadwell. He had a good wet session, but lack of dry track time proved a problem, and he was only able to qualify in 12th for the one race on Monday.
He had a steady start but ran onto the grass early on and dropped back to 16th, he made some good progress, and it was unfortunate to have the grass tracking moment as he was able to get up to 9th place at the end of the race. He worked hard and the team had made some good changes for the race. Roll on Oulton Park.
Josh – “Saturday was so wet, and it really limited our track time. We made a bit of a mistake about the qualifying being in two parts, we took a bit of stab in the dark with settings in the dry. We just really struggled for dry track time this weekend to get the Aprilia set up as we wanted.
We made some changes overnight which did feel a lot better, I hit a false neutral on lap two which put me on the grass and down into 16th. I ended up the fastest person on track on the last lap and we made some good progress to get a top 10 result. Onwards and upwards to Oulton Park.”

Freddie Barnes had a tough weekend through no fault of his own. He was getting on with the job in hand and learning each time out on track as normal, all be it brief. Sadly, early on in qualifying he was hit by another rider and he crashed out heavily. He was too beaten up to race on Sunday but opted to race Monday after having a run out in warm up. He started from the back of the grid and was working his way up through the field but suffered a small technical problem on the bike and was forced to retire.
Freddie – “This weekend sums up the luck we are having at the minute, not much practice then taken out by another rider! I’m relatively ok with nothing broken thankfully but feeling pretty second hand. I will be back for Oulton to get us out of this bad spell we have had.
I must say a huge thank you to LS2 helmets and J & S Accessories for keeping me safe during the crash – as it was a big off!!
Thank you to all my sponsors and see you at Oulton Park.”
Ian Newton – Team Owner – “Firstly we are delighted that Lewis has managed to win the Pathway Championship. He had worked so hard all season and given nothing but dedication and commitment to us. He has shown people what he can do on what is essentially a stock bike. We are over the moon he’s sealed the Championship with three rounds to go and hope he can lift the Rookie trophy also.
It was a tricky weekend for the team, and we seemed to be struggling to find a comfortable set-up on the Aprilia at Cadwell Park. Everyone worked hard and by race day things were considerably better, and they all made good improvements.
Freddie was just marred by bad luck all weekend and we hope he heals fast and feeling better at Oulton.
We hope for more at Oulton, all riders like it there and having been there once already this year we should have a base setting from the start and hope for some stronger and more positive results.”
