“Day one of the Winton test is done and dusted. In the end it was a pretty good day for the DesmoSport Ducati team and I. Obviously it was the first time on a Superbike here at Winton Motor Raceway, and it threw up some challenges that’s for sure.I’m not going to lie, in every session, bar the final one this afternoon I struggled a lot in terms of bike settings and simply just trying to get my head around the track.Thankfully in the final session we found a decent setting which is pretty close to what we want. I believe tomorrow we can go a fair bit quicker with some new Pirelli tyres. At the moment we are pretty much playing a game of ‘connect the dots’ and getting the Ducati Panigale V4 R ready for the ASBK – Australian Superbikes round in a few weeks’ time.Massive thanks to the whole team for their support over the day! Can’t wait to see what we can do tomorrow.”
“That’s a wrap here at Winton Motor Raceway…Overall, it has been a test which has certainly thrown a few challenges our way. The team and I walk away from the two days having learnt a lot about the Ducati Panigale V4 R and what I need to improve on in terms of being able to ride the bike better. We have improved the bike a lot since yesterday and I was able to feel a bit more comfortable. However, in saying that we do know we still have more to work to do ahead of the opening round of the ASBK – Australian Superbikes. It’s still early days and we know that. As the old saying goes, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’. We’ll regroup and have a good think about what needs to be done, then hopefully return back to Winton next week with a clearer idea where we want to go in terms of bike setup.I have full faith in my DesmoSport Ducati team that we can continue to keep improving and get good results. Thanks again to the team, sponsors and all the support. I really appreciate it.Bring on the opening round of the ASBK!”
