Kyle Ryde and the Rich Energy OMG Racing BMW team led the times in the opening Bennetts British Superbike Championship session of day two at Silverstone, edging out Eazi-Grip supported Christian Iddon by just 0.005s on the VisionTrack Ducati.
The opening session got underway in dry conditions, with the order shuffling throughout the 40 minutes with Tarran Mackenzie setting the initial benchmark after bouncing back from a challenging opening day yesterday.
Iddon then held the position at the top of the times, but in the closing laps of the session Ryde edged ahead; by the exact same margin that his VisionTrack Ducati rider had over him yesterday.
Yesterday’s fastest rider, Jason O’Halloran was third on this morning’s times on the second McAMS Yamaha, although his time from yesterday remains the fastest so far of the test.
Josh Brookes posted the fourth fastest time on the second of the VisionTrack Ducatis, ahead of Mackenzie and Buildbase Suzuki’s Danny Kent, who had a strong start to the day.
Xavi Forés led the FHO Racing BMW charge in seventh ahead of Glenn Irwin and Gino Rea with Danny Buchan completing the top ten for SYNETIQ BMW.
