Danny Buchan and Synetiq BMW back in the mix at Oulton Park

Danny Buchan’s fourth place in the third and final Bennett’s British Superbike Race at Oulton Park today was the pick of the results for SYNETIQ BMW Motorrad during round 9 of the series. Buchan also posted a brace of fifth placed finishes in the opening two BSB races of the weekend, which leaves him top of the Riders’ Cup standings with just two meetings remaining and leading BMW in the series.

Andrew Irwin put in a brave performance after a nasty crash in Friday’s opening practice session and despite sitting out the remainder of day one – he did decide to compete with a best placed finish of ninth in race two.

Danny Buchan

“Overall not a bad weekend really, 5-5-4 is quite good. I did my fastest ever lap around Oulton today in race 2 and the SYNETIQ BMW felt really good. We were so close to that podium in race three but we head to Donington Park in a few days and I’m feeling really comfortable. Full credit to the team as the bike was working mega today and made my job a lot easier.”

Andrew Irwin

“I did my best lap at Oulton and I think I’ve made steps in the right direction. Just unfortunately I’d the crash on Friday and that hindered us the rest of the weekend but I’m looking forward to Donington now.”

Steve Plater – Team Manager

“The boys worked hard this weekend and Danny’s results showed the progress we have made with the SYNETIQ BMW M 1000 RR. Andrew was unfortunate to have the early weekend crash but dug in and showed good potential. We now look forward to Donington as a team.”

Philip Neill – Team Principal

“Oulton Park normally brings some challenges for us and considering the events of this weekend we are very happy to come away with a solid points haul for Danny. Andrew recovered well after an early spill on Friday which could easily have ruled him out of racing. Our SYNETIQ BMW M 1000 RR is improving each weekend and we hope to see a strong end to the season from both our riders. Thanks as always to our partners for their continued support, thanks also to our crew and to our hospitality team for another enjoyable weekend.”
