Broc Pearson gets pole in qualifying in Australian Superbikes at Phillip Island

A breakthrough Pole Position for Broc Pearson at round six of the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) before 6-6 race results in the two 12-lap races at Phillip Island aboard the brand new DesmoSport Ducati Panigale V4 R over the weekend has given the young Queenslander his strongest performance to date, despite having a better overall result at Morgan Park.

Broc Pearson #4

Qualified: 1st (1:32.156)
Fastest Lap: 1:32.156
Results: 6-6, 5th Overall

Championship Standing: 7th

Team co-owner, Ben Henry: “We obviously need to keep working to get more from the harder race tyre but I’m really happy with the weekend. The team is working really well together, despite a few personnel changes, and the dynamic in the box is really good. Broc is riding the new bike with confidence and the results are beginning to show on the track. We head straight to Adelaide now for a few days of testing to prepare for the final round of the season at The Bend on December 1 to 3.”

Broc Pearson: “Although deep down, I’m disappointed in 5th overall, it was a strong weekend for us on the new bike. In practice, we immediately found some pace we were missing in testing, but if I’m honest, I didn’t expect pole in qualifying, but the team did a great job to give me a fast bike and we put ourselves in the best position to get the best lap done and I’m proud of what we achieved together. We knew it would be tough in the races to keep up with the leading group as our pace on the race tire was not very strong throughout the weekend but at a circuit I have never really gelled with, The results give me a lot of confidence as we go to The Bend where I really enjoy the circuit and have a strong track record.”

Troy Bayliss: “Maybe not our best race results of the year, but it was definitely a good weekend for the team and for Broc. Our first Pole in a while, and easily Broc‘s best Friday at a race meeting, showing he had pace early on, and going faster than he did in testing pretty much straight away. I think it’s our strongest race weekend of the season and there’s no reason we can’t keep progressing at The Bend in a few weeks.”

With the seventh and final round of the championship slated for December 1 – 3 at the Bend Motorsport Park, DesmoSport Ducati will head directly to South Australia for testing prior to the final two races of the season.
